Student Commons

Student Commons

The Northwest Nazarene University Student Commons will provide an inclusive sense of place where all NNU constituents, residents, commuter students, faculty, staff, alumni, and off-campus guest may come together to experience and participate in the community that is a hallmark of NNU. The Commons will be located at the center of campus and will provide campus information, student services, retail space, gathering space, and community-building activities.

The Student Commons will be NNU’s "front door," serving as a place to welcome campus guests and community visitors. The Office of Admissions will be located in the Commons, welcoming future NNU students. The Commons will include flexible space that will accommodate student performances and other gatherings. A prominently-located Information Desk will provide service and directions to those visiting the Commons and campus.

It was like a breath of fresh air. It was so drastically different—it was like coming home. My first week I helped Roger [Schmidt, retiring head coach] run a basketball camp and work with some student-athletes. It was so refreshing to be able to talk about more than just basketball and to just love on them. —Kelli Lindley, NNU Athletic Director

The Center of Community

The Student Commons will make available a variety of flexible, highly functional commons spaces that will enhance the identity and formation of community on the campus of NNU. We want all students, alumni, and off-campus guests to experience the hallmark community of NNU.

Home Away from Home

The Student Commons will be a "home away from home" for students. It will serve as the heart of student life by hosting recreational activities, cultural events, and educational opportunities. It will be an intentional space where students interact, live, and learn together.
